At the end of Chapter 4 Homily declares that Arriety needs to "be told - now!" Why does she want Arriety to know about "been (being) seen, now, after all this time of secrecy?"
Dear Erin and Patricia, Pod was seen by the little boy.Now Homily is afraid that they might have to move.So they think they have to tell Arrietty about it.
on page 34 Pod convinces Homily that they need to tell Arriety because Uncle Hendreary and Aunt Lupy did not tell Eggletina anything about the humans or cats and she went to find out about the world upstairs on her own! Something awful must have to her because they haven't said told us if she disappeared or died. So, Homily is convinced that they should tell Arriety
Homily wants to tell Arriety because if she doesn't find out soon, she is going to find out on her own and then she will wonder why her parents didn't tell her about the boy. Then she might be afraid of the boy. The Clocks still need to be worried that Pod was seen.

Because Pod got seen so they want to tell her about what happened so she can whatch out for everthing.
