On pg 61 as Arrietty watched Pod run across the upstairs floor she "suddenly saw him as 'small'. " What did Arrietty mean by "small?" Why do you think that she sees her father differently now?
Arriety thinks that when there in their house that her dad is taller because everthing in the house is the right size for them. When she sees him out in the real world he is smaller then Arriety thought.Your Friend Lauren Scutella
Lauren, Your observation is exactly what I was thinking! It reminded me of one Christmas when I saw my grandma's christmas tree that she has had since we were very little kids in her new house when we were older (and taller!). We were convinced that it was not the same tree because it was HUGE in our memory (because we were much shorter then!) and the tree that was set up looked very small! :)
I am Pennsylvania certified in elementary and special education. I received my Masters degree in Special Education from Mercyhurst College located in Erie, PA.
I am a partner (and mother!) in OneL Publishing with Michele Boutwell. Our belief is that ALL kids can read if presented with effective instruction. LOGIC, written by Michele Boutwell, is our program that has been proven to be THAT instruction.
